Over the past couple of years outdoor rattan furniture has revolutionised the way we look at our garden furniture. Synthetic rattan has many different benefits, and here at Wovenhill we are its biggest fans, but how does it really compare to natural wood and cane?
With so many different choices of outdoor garden furniture on the market it can be confusing which the right choice is for you. Your lifestyle should play an important role in your decision as some furniture, made from a natural material, will need a lot of maintenance; good quality synthetic rattan is virtually maintenance free, requiring a quick wipe down with a damp cloth to look as good as new year after year.
Natural wooden furniture needs care and attention, sanding down and re varnishing should be done every year or so to keep it in top condition. Untreated wood will eventually disintegrate and be prone to insect infestations. At Wovenhill all of our outdoor rattan furniture uses a high quality 8mm rattan, completely UV, crack, peel, chlorine and mildew resistant; it is perfect for any garden, including hot climates or pool areas. Natural wood can crack and weaken when exposed to high temperatures, with a tendency to stain and bleach.
Many people like how natural wooden furniture weathers and ages with the garden, which is great but any new pieces you may want to buy will stand out like a sore thumb and can alter the feel of the garden. All Wovenhill pieces have been designed to match all ranges and the rattan will always be an exact colour match. This allows are customers to add to their garden as and when they choose, in the knowledge that it will work with their existing furniture. With everything from flowerpots to sun loungers, side tables to dining sets you can purchase in total confidence.
